The Communication and Speech Analysis in Neurodegenerative Disorders Lab

The Communication and Speech Analysis in Neurodegenerative Disorders Lab (CSAND Lab) aims to find observable measures to aid diagnosis and gain a greater understanding of communications and behavioral disorders.

Many of these disorders are not well understood, but with more research and development, the lives of those affected will improve significantly.

These disorders include:

  • Language Disorders
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Speech-Sound Disorders
  • Learning Disorders
  • Alzheimers Disease
  • Dementia

Communication and behavior are intrinsically linked. They define how we are able to apprehend our environment, express ourselves emotionally and socially, as well as affect our emotional and mental health. When one of these areas is affected by communication or behavioral disorders, an individual's life can change drastically. Our lab strives to improve the lives of individuals with these disorders through dedicated patient care and innovative clinical research.

The Communication and Speech Analysis in Neurodegenerative Disorders Lab is part of the Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

This collaboration allows us to combine world-class clinical care with outstanding clinical research and laboratory facilities and techniques. Together, we can improve diagnostic techniques and our current understanding of communication and behavioral disorders.

We hope you can use this site to access information for patients and families, including resources for individuals with dementia and information on participating in research.
